Program in Feminist Studies and the Clayman Institute for Gender Research
A portrait of pop cultural icon Selena, the Tejana singer who was shot and killed in 1995 at the age of 23. The film explores the complexities of Selena's legacy as a role model, validates the bodies of brown women, and showcases the experiences of a community often ignored and misrepresented in the dominant media. Panelists include Lourdes Portillo and Prof. Kris Samuelson. Panel moderated by Prof. Yvonne Yarbro-Bejarano.
